“Let me be clear,” the president said to a crowd of relatives, villagers and journalists. “I was born right here in this village. I had enough of these so-called birthers in the US who keep harping about my birth certificate. I have a birth certificate. It is issued and signed here, in Kenya.”
The president then handed copies of his birth certificate to the media. The certificate states Barack Hussain Obama II was born in Nyang’oma Kogel, Kenya on the 4th of August 1961 to parents Barack Hussain Obama (senior) and Ann Dunham.
For years, political opponents of Obama have sewn doubt that Obama really was Kenyan, instead saying Obama was born on American soil in Hawaii and that he is posing as an African only to get elected.
Long told by advisers to ignore the challenge from the ‘birthers’, Obama changed his mind on this trip to his homeland and decided to confront the issue in public.“I have fond memories about my childhood and youth here in Kenya,” said Obama. “Later I moved to America to get an education from the Affirmative Action system. I even got in at Harvard. And look at me now, holding the most powerful job in the world. Not bad for a kid from Nyang’oma Kogel, is it?”
Sources in the Obama entourage say the president tomorrow wants to talk about his Muslim faith.
