“Bravely defying aggression from America and its lackeys in the south, our great and wise leadership has reopened telephone communications so the poverty-stricken, destitute south can reach North Korea,” a statement said.
The statement also said the single line now opened will be operative from 8pm till midnight and that it can be used from the presidential palace and presidential office by persons over 18 only.
“The world, eager to learn from the genius of President Kim Jong-un about the achievements of socialism in Korea, has long desired such communication to be possible,” the statement said.
Sources close to the North Korean leadership said the phone line was reopened on the personal initiative of President Kim Jong-un. “Our Dear Leader missed his evening calls to live phone services in the US”, a highly placed source said on condition of anonymity to avoid being executed. “In particular he missed his friend ‘Donna’ at 1-800-DOMINATRIX,” the source said.
According to the website of 1-800-DOMINATRIX, ‘Donna’ is a specialist in authoritarian and humiliating conversations, for which the caller is charged $ 7.99 per minute.
In a comment, former US president Bill Clinton said that if Kim wanted to speak to a dominating woman, his wife Hillary was available for free.
