Get it all out
I consider the shift from metal sheet tooth paste tubes to plastic ones as one of the great advances of mankind. The metal ones were too hard to get all the tooth paste out of. As I squeezed, the metal sheets would ripple and bend and make it hard to get the last little bit of good paste out.
The plastic tubes are more flexible. They are easier to empty. And once you can’t squeeze any more out, they are easy to cut open so you can scrape the remnants off the inside of the tube. Not that I would do that. I am not obsessively stingy or anything.
